What are Nylon and Nylex, and Let's Learn More About Their Differences

Nylon and Nylex are both types of plastic with diverse applications, and there are significant differences in their raw material composition and physical properties.

Nylon:
Nylon is a type of synthetic polymer that was first discovered and developed in the 1930s by the DuPont company. Nylon is produced from raw materials such as polyamides and has a strong structure with high resistance to tension and abrasion. Due to its properties, it is used in the production of various products such as water tanks, stockings, ropes, fabrics, industrial parts, and mechanical tools. In general, nylon has high flexibility and resistance, and its surface is smooth and matte.

Nylex:
Nylex is a type of plastic primarily made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Nylex is commonly used for making plastic bags and consumer packaging. The material composition in Nylex consists of about 80% high-density polyethylene and 20% low-density polyethylene. The presence of low-density polyethylene in Nylex gives it a shinier appearance, better sewability, and more flexibility compared to other plastics.

Main Differences Between Nylon and Nylex:
1. Constituent Materials: Nylon is made from polyamides, while Nylex is made from polyethylenes.
2. Appearance and Molecular Structure:** Nylon has a matte and non-shiny surface, whereas Nylex is shinier and more flexible.
3. Applications:** Nylon is used more in industries and the production of durable and high-strength products such as clothing and industrial, electronic, and sports parts, while Nylex is mainly used in plastic bags, packaging, and agricultural wide films.
4. Resistance:** Nylon is more resistant to tension and abrasion, but Nylex has greater flexibility and elasticity.
5. Sewability:** Due to the presence of low-density polyethylene, Nylex has better sewability, which is beneficial in the production of plastic bags.

Overall, both nylon and nylex have their unique characteristics and are used in different applications based on various needs.

Methods of Producing Nylex

The production of Nylex involves the use of the best raw materials and modern machinery, comprising precise and controlled stages. Here is a brief overview of the steps in this process:

  1. Preparation of Raw Materials: In the production of Nylex, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is used along with a percentage of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) to produce bags with high quality and desirable features such as shine, softness, and good sewability. The use of high-quality raw materials helps improve the strength, clarity, and shine of the product.

  2. Extrusion Process: The combined raw materials are transferred to extrusion machines. In this stage, the materials are melted at the appropriate temperature and then formed into thin plastic films using extrusion devices. These films are then rolled up and prepared for the next stages.

  3. Printing on Nylex: High-quality flexo and gravure printers are used for printing on Nylex. These machines, due to their high accuracy and clarity, print the desired images and designs of customers on Nylex with excellent quality. The use of premium inks and modern printing devices ensures the durability of the print quality on the product.

  4. Cutting and Sewing: After printing, the Nylex sheets are transferred to cutting and sewing machines. These modern machines cut the bags to the desired size and shape, and then sew the seams well to ensure high strength and resistance.

  5. Quality Control and Packaging: The final products are inspected by the quality control unit to ensure that the final product is flawless in terms of printing, cutting, and sewing. The produced Nylex bags are then packaged and prepared for distribution.

These steps, along with the use of modern machinery and high-quality raw materials, ensure that printed Nylex products meet high standards, are durable, and are appealing to meet various customer needs.
